Guided study and exploration on the rules and principles of print production, including technical specifications with color processes, pixel resolution, tactile materials, and instructional design. The project goal included development of an emotional ambivalence as the driving theme for the visual aesthetic and design of the book.
This book utilized the ambivalence “Silent Exposure”. My approach to this project was rooted in the emotional duality of Silent Exposure — a reflection on my Chinese-American heritage and congenital bipolar disorder in my family. This project connects my family history in exploring the often unseen deviations of what is considered normal. On the surface, the design may appear structured and cohesive, but a closer look reveals intentional inconsistencies.
